Here's a job they didn't tell you about in school: choosing the Pantone Colour of the Year!
Colour experts apparently spend a year combing the world looking for new colour influences - which seems a jolly good excuse to visit new art exhibitions, watch new films, go to all the fashion shows, and visit popular travel destinations: all in a bid to catch the zeitgeist of colour and forecast global colour trends.
For 2021 two colours have been chosen.....a strong, steady, dependable, practical and rock-solid grey (official name 'Ultimate Gray'), and a complementary sunny yellow (officially called 'Illuminating') to symbolise strength and positivity as we move through the pandemic.
So....if you see these colours in abundance on the high street in the next few months, you now know why! In the meantime, how do I get to apply to choose for 2022???
