I like nice things. But I don’t want to pay huge prices in order to have them.
‘Surely there must be lots more people like me?’ I thought, back in 2010 when I was beginning to dip my toe into the big and scary e-commerce pool. I thought I’d put my theory to the test and opened a shop on Ebay and contacted a few suppliers of products I’d love to own myself.
Six years later, and with Ebay, Etsy and Ebid shops going well I knew it was time to branch out and establish my own website – and thus snowbunting.co.uk was born.
Why snowbunting? I have a love of all things Nordic – whether it be watching The Bridge, visiting Icelandic geysers, or pottering around Copenhagen. I love the people, the buildings, the colours, and – of course – the ‘hygge’ that’s supposedly responsible for their high levels of happiness. ‘Hygge’ roughly translates as ‘cosy’ and that’s reflected in the products I sell. I love blankets, throws, cushions, candles, and simple gifts that are beautifully designed.
The snow bunting is a pretty bird that’s common in the Nordic countries, and was an easy choice for the website name.
I don’t ever want to rival John Lewis; my ethos is to keep things small so that I can offer a personal service. Please never hesitate to contact me (see the 'Contact Us' section for all the details) if you have questions, comments, or suggestions – I love to hear from customers.
